EMDR Therapy
Compassionate, trauma-informed care for every stage of life.
What Is EMDR Therapy?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly effective, evidence-based therapy designed to help people heal from trauma, anxiety, and painful life experiences. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR helps the brain process memories that have become “stuck” — allowing emotional healing to happen naturally and fully.

Through guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, EMDR helps the brain reprocess distressing experiences so they no longer feel as triggering or overwhelming. The goal isn’t to erase the past, but to reduce the emotional weight it carries — so you can feel more present, calm, and in control.

Who Can Benefit from EMDR?
EMDR can be helpful for a wide range of experiences, including:
-
Childhood or relational trauma
-
Single-incident events (car accidents, assaults, medical trauma)
-
Grief and loss
-
Anxiety, panic, or intrusive thoughts
-
Low self-worth and negative beliefs
Many clients come to EMDR after feeling stuck in talk therapy — ready for something that helps them go deeper and find lasting relief.

How EMDR Works
When something distressing happens, the brain sometimes struggles to process it fully. As a result, memories can become “frozen,” leaving lingering emotional and physical responses long after the event. EMDR activates the brain’s natural ability to heal by allowing these memories to be reprocessed in a new, adaptive way.

During EMDR, we work together to identify the core experiences that are contributing to current symptoms. Over time, those memories lose their emotional charge, and clients often say EMDR helps them feel grounded in a way they didn’t think was possible — less reactive, more connected, and better able to trust themselves and others.
