EMDR Therapy
Compassionate, trauma-informed care for every stage of life.
What Is EMDR Therapy?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly effective, evidence-based therapy designed to help people heal from trauma, anxiety, and painful life experiences. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR helps the brain process memories that have become “stuck” — allowing emotional healing to happen naturally and fully.

Through guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, EMDR helps the brain reprocess distressing experiences so they no longer feel as triggering or overwhelming. The goal isn’t to erase the past, but to reduce the emotional weight it carries — so you can feel more present, calm, and in control.

Who Can Benefit from EMDR?
EMDR can be helpful for a wide range of experiences, including:
-
Childhood or relational trauma
-
Single-incident events (car accidents, assaults, medical trauma)
-
Perinatal and birth trauma
-
Grief and loss
-
Anxiety, panic, or intrusive thoughts
-
Low self-worth and negative beliefs (“I’m not enough,” “I’m not safe”)
Many clients come to EMDR after feeling stuck in talk therapy — ready for something that helps them go deeper and find lasting relief.

How EMDR Works
When something distressing happens, the brain sometimes struggles to process it fully. As a result, memories can become “frozen,” leaving lingering emotional and physical responses long after the event. EMDR activates the brain’s natural ability to heal by allowing these memories to be reprocessed in a new, adaptive way.

During EMDR, we work together to identify the core experiences that are contributing to current symptoms. You remain fully in control and aware during the process — nothing is forced, and you never have to relive your trauma in detail. Over time, those memories lose their emotional charge, and clients often describe feeling lighter, calmer, and more at peace. By processing these memories in a safe and supportive space, EMDR helps release the sense of fear, guilt, or shame that may linger — making room for healing, confidence, and connection.
What to Expect in EMDR Therapy
Our work together will move at your pace. We begin with understanding your story, building coping skills, and a sense of safety before starting EMDR processing. Each phase of the process is guided and collaborative — you’ll never be asked to go further than you feel ready for.

Clients often say EMDR helps them feel grounded in a way they didn’t think was possible — less reactive, more connected, and better able to trust themselves and others.
