Frequently Asked Questions

What is therapy?

Therapy is an opportunity to talk and be heard by a trained and objective third-party. Some people come to therapy with something specific in mind that they wish to address, and other times people come with a general sense that they are not living their lives in a way that feels truly validating. Whatever your reason for seeking support, I believe that therapy can help you create a life that holds more joy, connection, and purpose, and an overall better sense of well-being.

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorder. EMDR therapy helps resolve unprocessed (“stuck”) traumatic memories in the brain by facilitating their movement into healthier memory networks. EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue or completing homework between sessions. EMDR therapy, rather than focusing on changing the emotions, thoughts, or behaviors resulting from the distressing issue, allows the brain to resume its natural healing process. For many clients, EMDR therapy yields rapid treatment effects and can be completed in fewer sessions than other psychotherapies. For more information on EMDR, please check out the EMDRIA website. We do not have to do EMDR if we decide to work together! EMDR is just one of the many tools I offer clients to support them in their healing journey.

Do you take insurance?

We currently do not participate in any insurance plans. Depending on your health insurance plan, it is possible for services to be reimbursed in full or in part. Many of my clients report receiving partial or full reimbursements. Please contact your insurance provider to verify how your plan compensates you for out-of-network services. If requested, I can provide you a superbill for you to send to your insurance. I believe that therapy should be affordable and accessible, so reduced fee services are available. If you feel like we would be a good fit, and finances are the barrier, please reach out to me and let's talk!

Victim’s Compensation Assistance Program
Pennsylvania offers financial support of up to $10,000 for survivors of sexual assault and abuse, and other crimes. If you have experienced a sexual assault or abuse in PA, regardless of whether you filed a police report, you are likely eligible to receive funding towards the cost of therapy services. If you have experienced another type of crime in the state of PA, and have filed a police report, you are likely also eligible for VCAP funding. As a VCAP provider, I am able to work with you and receive funding directly from VCAP to help you pay for services. Feel free to reach out and ask me for more information or explore VCAP's website. You can apply to receive funding towards the cost of therapy by going directly to https://portal.pccd.pa.gov/DAVE.
